I’ve already shared this on Twitter and Facebook, but I’m giving away copies of the Touch: A One-Act Play audiobook. For those of you that don’t know, the play takes place in a world in which deliberate physical touch has been outlawed. In the play, a woman called the Seeker strives to find out more about touch however she can, even if that involves taking some serious risks.
I knew right away that I wanted Touch to be an audiobook. Ideally, I’d like to see it staged, but I think an audiobook is a great first step. This version is narrated by Evan Harris, and although it’s short, I couldn’t be more thrilled with the way it turned out. As someone who watches plays and seldom listens to them in audio form, I was nervous to see how this would turn out. Thankfully, Evan took my direction and added his own narrative flair, and I’m pleased with the results.
I don’t have many reviews on Touch, and I don’t know how many of you have already read it, but I’m going to do this giveaway, anyway. Of course, you don’t have to leave a review if you win a copy, but I would certainly appreciate it!
If you’re interested in winning a free audiobook copy of Touch, all you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter widget below. I’m giving away five copies, so you have several chances to win. The winners will be announced about a week from now, July 19, 2016, at 11:59 EST. Good luck!

Woohoo! It’s Friday! Happy birthday to me! I can’t believe I’m 24 now! I feel like I just had a birthday yesterday, but somehow, it was a whole year ago? Is that how birthdays work?
Anyway, I know my age may come as a surprise to some of you, and I’m aware that 24 is still pretty young, but it still feels strange, you know? This time last year, I was in a different, darker place. My position in life was pretty precarious for a while. I had some close calls, in terms of mental and emotional breakdowns. It was rough for me in Florida.
But I digress. Today should be happy, so let’s do happy things. I know usually I’d be the one receiving presents today, but I’d much rather give you guys something. This past year has been amazing for me. I’ve overcome and accomplished so much, and there’s no way I could have done it without your support, encouragement, and motivation. Seriously, people. I love you all so much. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world, and it’s all because of you. So in honor of my gratitude, and of turning another year (hopefully) wiser, I thought I’d put together a little giveaway.
If you want to enter to win a $15 Barnes & Noble gift card, just fill out the widget below! You have until Friday, June 23, 2016 at 11:59 EST to enter! Once the giveaway closes, I’ll announce the winner via another blog post. Good luck, everybody!

Cheyanne Young is one of the loveliest people on Twitter. She’s a writing tweep who has helped me so much with my own writing and publishing journey that I’m happy to give back to her in any way I can. When I heard the excellent news about her deal with Alloy, I was ecstatic! Today, I’m even more thrilled to participate in the series blitz for her upcoming City of Legends books. Check it out!Check out the promo event for all three books in Cheyanne Young’s YA superhero series and enter to the awesome giveaway.Series: City of LegendsPublisher: Alloy EntertainmentRelease: February 2016Purchase series: Amazon~EXCERPT~Crimson throws an arm over my shoulder, the scent of her cherry lip-gloss briefly overriding the stench of fish tanks. “So, Maci Knight . . . think you have what it takes to pass your Hero exam?”I know she’s not talking about the hours of training I’ve endured over the last decade and this last week of performing skill tests for the examiners to prove I’m ready. Crimson’s question goes deeper than that. She’s talking about the core of being a Hero. Placing my life on the line to save people I don’t even know. Throwing away the idea of a normal life, all to uphold an oath of protecting those who can’t protect themselves. The Hero Brigade is the most elite group on the planet. I meet her gaze and the corner of my mouth twists into a grin. “Hell yes.”~EXCERPT~“Something strange is going on,” Katia says.“It’s almost like they have power,” I say.The two Heroes look at me like I’ve lost my mind. “They’re human, Maci,” Katia says. “They can’t have power.”“I know,” I say quickly, feeling the sudden need to defend my intelligence. But something about my words rings true. Even with dedicated strength training, humans are weak. If I hadn’t seen firsthand what happens when a Super and human breed, I would have suspected that these humans were some kind of half-Super. But this . . . well this, I don’t have an explanation for. And if we don’t figure it out and put a stop it, it could bring unsurmountable chaos into the human’s world—and ours.~EXCERPT~
Evan approaches and slides his hands around my waist. A chill goes through me at the feel of his touch and the familiar tingle of his power so close to mine. Heroes train hard to hone and strengthen their power more than any other Super, so it has a distinct and dominant feeling. Evan spent a few years in Hero training, but his power isn’t like that. It doesn’t burn like Crimson’s power when she’s in a frenzied fight, and it doesn’t intimidate like one of the older Heroes might. It encircles my body the same way his arms do, bringing me closer to him spiritually and physically.Desire courses through my veins. I grab his shoulders and lift up on my toes. Evan grips my waist and lifts me into the air. I close my eyes and kiss him. His lips taste salty and perfect. My fingers slide up through his dirty blonde hair. He deepens the kiss and I hold onto him as if I need his lips to stay alive. I want this moment to last forever.

Those of you on Twitter might have seen Ava Jae’s fantastic Fixing the First Page Giveaways. (P.S. Check out her whole blog, because it is AMAZING.) I love these kinds of critiques, and because I’m so inspired by her generosity, I’ve decided to offer some critiques of my own!
Here are some rules if you’re interested in entering:
That’s about it! As long as you think you can follow those guidelines, feel free to enter using the widget below! Once the contest closes, I’ll announce the winner in a separate post on Dec. 8. 🙂
- I will only critique the first 250 words (first page) of your piece
- I prefer YA and NA, but will read adult as long as it doesn’t have explicit sexual content
- No erotica (see above) — I don’t feel I can give appropriate feedback for this one
- You should have corrected basic spelling/grammar issues so that I can focus on the more important aspects of the piece 🙂
- You must have your first page ready
- You must be comfortable with me posting the piece on my blog, along with the critique
- The giveaway will close at midnight EST on Dec. 8, 2014.
Good luck to everyone, and be sure to spread the word!
I know, I know. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet. The holiday cheer is getting to me already.
You see, I’ve always wanted to host an online Secret Santa gift exchange. As a member of the coolest community on Twitter (my writing tweeps), I thought it would be great to include my friends and colleagues in the Christmas festivities.
If you’re interested in participating in this year’s Secret Santa gift exchange, here are the rules:
That’s all there is to it. You can start joining as soon as this post goes live, so if you’re reading this, feel free to add your name and relevant links below. If you have any questions or need ideas, feel free to contact me. Oh, and in your comments, be sure to leave your email or Twitter handle so I can contact you! Once the entries close, I’ll have you all draw names and start shopping. 🙂Would you like to participate in my Secret Santa gift exchange? What kind of present are you hoping to receive?Tweet tweet:
- I’m closing entries on December 1. That should give everyone a few weeks to decide whether or not they want to enter and a few weeks to purchase and send out the presents.
- There is a set budget of $20 for gifts. This limit is to ensure quality presents without going overboard. If you can afford to go over, then by all means, feel free. The budget is simply for those who need it. Also, if you spend more, don’t expect everyone to be able to do the same. I promise you’ll get a good gift either way. 🙂
- If you’d like to help out your giver, post a links to wishlists in the comment section. Whether it’s Pinterest, Wanelo, Amazon, or somewhere else, this will give your giver a good starting point. Even if they don’t get you anything on your lists, they’ll get a good idea of what you like.
- You must be willing to send gifts internationally. That way, everyone gets a chance to participate. If you can’t afford to send anything across the ocean, consider purchasing some kind of gift card (though that kinda takes the fun out of the exchange).
- All gifts must be sent out no later than December 15. This gives the gifts ten days to arrive at their intended destinations. The postal service has its hands full during the holidays. Let’s not make things worse by waiting until the last minute.
- Add a card! Please let your new friend know whom the gift is from. 🙂
- Exercise good judgment. Do not send firearms, drugs, tobacco, animals, hazardous chemicals, or anything of that nature. Also, try not to be offensive. Reddit had a Secret Santa exchange last year in which lots of dildos were received. Let’s be better than that, people.
- Spread the word. The more people who know about the giveaway, the better!

What kind of giveaway would you like to see next?
Hello, lovely people!
It occurred to me the other day that I really like giving gifts. I also realized I’ve never done a blog giveaway before.
After racking my brain about what to give away, I decided on a $10 Amazon gift card. That way, whoever wins can get whatever he or she wants. Sound good?
The giveaway is open from 12AM EST on October 23 to 12AM EST on October 30. All you have to do is follow the steps in the widget below to enter. The first step is mandatory (leaving a blog comment), but the rest of them after that are optional (meaning they get you additional entries). Once the contest closes, I’ll select a winner and let their victory be known to the entire internet.
As always, thank you all for being so incredible. I love each and every one of you more than you know. I’ll be announcing the winners of this giveaway sometime on Oct. 30 on the blog and social media, so make sure you’re following me! 🙂
